It’s Shakespeare in the Piazza at Bacchus Landing!

While Claudio and Hero fall in love and get engaged, the villainous Don John tricks Claudio into believing Hero is unfaithful, leading him to publicly humiliate her at the altar. Meanwhile, their friends conspire to make the sparring Beatrice and Benedick fall in love, and they eventually confess their feelings for each other. The play's climax, in pure Shakespearean form, involves a faked death, a confession of Don John's plot, and a happy ending with a double wedding – of course!

Bacchus Landing's wood-fired pizza will be available for purchase, and wine by the glass or bottle will also be available for purchase. Sorry, no outside food or drink allowed except for water bottles.

By popular demand and with incredible community support, the Raven Players are staging a return of Who Will Dance with Pancho Villa? an original play about an urban Chicano struggling to understand himself and his place in his family legacy – a history of warriors, fighters, battlers against oppression and discrimination.

First performed off-Broadway in 1994, the playwrights updated the story with the introduction of the Ballet Folklórico Legado de Mi Alegría de Cloverdale Ca while developing the story further through the Raven Players' ScripTease program.

Please note: Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. The audience is seated onstage for a more intimate theater experience. Please arrive early; latecomers will be seated at intermission.

The details: Seven writers, seven directors, and seven actor groups gather together Friday, August 21st at the Raven and, with the help of the audience, select a theme that will inspire the writers to each write a ten-minute play. The audience also votes on one line of dialogue that must be in each play. The writers then have until 8 am Saturday to write their plays, at which time the directors and actors begin rehearsing from 10 am to 4 pm Writers, directors and actors return to the Raven at 4:30 to do a quick tech run in preparation for performing all seven plays at 7:30 in front of an eager and enthusiastic audience! It's loads of fun and a fascinating look at the creative process.

macbitches takes a darkly funny look at the toxic, high-stakes world of university theater, centering on a freshman who unexpectedly lands the role of Lady Macbeth. The play centers on freshman acting major Hailey, who unexpectedly scores the coveted role of Lady Macbeth. Her upperclassmen rivals immediately invite her over to “celebrate.” As the Fireball and Svedka flow, the young women interrogate their own ambitions as well as the power structures that have shaped their education—and when the night spirals into violent and shocking acts of betrayal, they come to learn that what’s done cannot be undone.

The Commanders Jazz Ensemble is part of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, stationed in the San Francisco Bay Area at Travis Air Force Base, California. With a diverse repertoire and exceptional talent, the ensemble offers far more than traditional big band music. While they honor legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller, they seamlessly transition into cool jazz, bebop, Latin rhythms, Broadway hits, and patriotic music.

The Band of the Golden West is the only active duty Air Force band west of the Rockies, and is comprised of about 60 talented and versatile Airmen-musicians under the command of Captain Brian O'Donnell.

The organization offers several outstanding performing groups: Concert Band, Ceremonial Marching Band, Commanders Jazz Ensemble, Mobility popular music ensemble, Travis Brass quintet, Golden West Brass ensemble, Golden West Winds woodwind quintet, Sierra Winds woodwind ensemble, Clarinet Quartet, and Galaxy popular music ensemble. Additionally, the Band of the Golden West provides solo vocalists for the performance of our National Anthem and solo buglers for Taps details.
